Would I or wouldn’t I take part in a volunteer vacation trip again. There is no easy answer to this question, I’m afraid. I tend to believe that any Western European individual should step out of their comfort zone. I have been travelling since 1998, mostly to Latin America and Asia, frantically avoiding those pesky all-inclusive resorts.
I’d like to get to know the country and its people. Sure enough, the not-so-pretty spots as well. Poverty in India, Bolivia, or Tanzania is part of the deal, and it’s absolutely no mistake to stop being a tourist and start thinking about it. I believe that it would improve the dialogue between developed and developing nations if more Europeans had a look beyond their own noses. Read more.
